Mayor’s Welcome Message
I would like to extend my best wishes to IABMAS 2020 (The 10th International Conference on Bridge Maintenance, Safety and Management), which will be held in June 2020 in the City of Sapporo. Through this conference, I am looking forward to have many people visit the captivating city of Sapporo.
At the same time, I would like to pay my heartfelt respect to the members of IABMAS (International Association for Bridge Maintenance and Safety) as well as engineers, researchers, and educators for their continuous effort in pursuing technical research on bridge structures and in transmitting their results to the world.
The City of Sapporo is located 37 minutes by express train from an international airport and, with its seasonal attractions and charms, is drawing many visitors from all over the world all year around. Especially in June and July, scenic streets filled with fresh air and lush greenery never fail to enchant visitors.
2020 is also the year of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. The City is in the process of preparation to serve as one of the competition venues outside Tokyo. I strongly believe that for Sapporo, 2020 will be a bright and brisk year and be well remembered as the place where the IABMAS 2020 results are transmitted.
It is my sincere hope that IABMAS 2020 in Sapporo will be a memorable event for all. I also hope that you can enjoy your stay to the fullest by not only viewing nature and beautiful streets but also experiencing Sapporo’s food culture and visiting various sightseeing spots. I would like to extend my warm wishes for the success of IABMAS 2020 in Sapporo and the further prosperity of IABMAS. I look forward to seeing you in the City of Sapporo.
